How to create a CME activity

When creating a CME activity in the Advance Area of Cortex, we need to keep in mind a couple of things prior to creating this activity.


It can only be created on the following products:

  • JACR
  • RSCAN
  • Rad Train
  • RADTEACH
  • CPI


It works on the with the following presenters:

  • Case Script (CS)
  • Edge
  • Simple Question (SQ)
  • Teaching File (TF)


You will need


To start, please access the advance area of Cortex (click the link to access) On the left hand side, under Case Management, click Activity Designer. Click on Create New, to prompt the setting for your CME activity.



Required fields are:

  • Name 
  • Product 
  • Activity Cource
  • Activity Category 
  • Template type
  • Continuing Medical Education set to "Yes", the following options will appear:

Product code

Survey URL 

Minimum percentage Required (Optional)










Its also important to know that questions sets are not allowed in CME activities. CME can only be claimed once for each CME activity. 


If you require a minimum score to pass the activity, if the user does not pass, they will be prompted that they did not pass but they are able to try again and their answers will reset. They will be allow as many attempts as needed. 


When the users successfully passes the activity, after completing the survey they will be able to view or print their CME certificate. If a users is Technologist, Other or Phisicist the button to print certificate will say "View/Print Certificate of Participation" (COP). 


Once you press create, pick the cases that will be including in the activity by selecting the cases and pressing the blue arrow between Case List and Case Order. When completed you can preview the activity or returning to the Activity home to assign the activity open and set it up for publication.


Survey URL - 

The Survey URL used should be the one in the embeded area of Jotform. 



Make sure your Jotform is set to Redirect to external link in order to complete the process for CME. By following the example image below
