Assign an Activity

Once an activity is created, the activity can then be assigned to yourself, an institution portal, other individuals or set as open.  This is termed as "publishing" the activity and is performed on the Activity Designer page.

Access the Activity Designer page and select the Activities & Curriculum.  Locate the activity in the "Assignament" or "Drafts" tab. Then click on the  (three dots) and the Assign option will show.

Select the drop down arrow on the publish button to view the publishing options.

  • Individual- the activity will be published to yourself and a specific individual

  • Portals- the activity will be published to a specific institution portal

  • Open- the activity will be published to anyone

Assign to Individual: By selecting this option the activity will be placed in the Assignment area of the Activity Designer to either "Self-Published" or "Assignment" under that specific user's portal. No other users will have access to the activity including Co-Owners when published in this manner.

In order to do so, a pop up window will appear to select the individual from an specific institution.

  1. First, choose the institution or sub-category of the institution by clicking the arrow next to the desired institution; or look up by name in the search box on the top.

  2. By clicking on the arrow next to the name desired, it will move the user to the assign column.

  3. Then, you will choose the date and time you would like the activity to start and finish. An option to add a grace period can be chosen by moving the option of grace period to Yes. If no option is chosen on start and due, the activity will be indefinitely open for the users of the institution.

  4. Finally click Assign to make the activity available.

Publish to Portals: This option allows you to publish an activity or assessment (based on your privileges) to an institution portal. This means that anyone with access to your institution portal will have access to the Activity. The same pop-up window will appear.

  1. First, choose the institution or sub-category of the institution by clicking the arrow next to the desired institution.

  2. The institution will move to the middle column.

  3. Then, you will choose the date and time you would like the activity to start and finish. An option to add a grace period can be chosen by moving the option of grace period to Yes. If no option is chosen on start and due, the activity will be indefinitely open for the users of the institution.

  4. Finally click Assign to make the activity available.

Publishing to a portal allows anyone with access to that institution portal to launch the activity. Now anyone who has access to that particular institution's portal may launch the activity. Some institutions may have multiple programs associated with one portal. Check mark only those programs associated with the portal that you wish to have access to the activity.

The activity can be found by selecting the Public radio button on the institution portal.

Publish Open: This option is only used for those activities requiring membership status to access and is usually posted to a web store or LMS. Open activities will give anyone access as long as they have the link to the activity.
