Program Goal

The ACR Learning Network’s program will help enable the success of each local team through structured improvement leadership training, project support, and guidance for data development. The program is a 10 session, 9 month improvement course designed to facilitate the completion of team-based, front-line improvement projects in complex healthcare environments.  The quality improvement training is designed to provide just-in-time education to support the team and their project as they move through the program.

Course Objectives

While the main focus of the program is to produce sustainable, meaningful improvement results, participants will also learn how to apply the following themes related to process improvement:

  • Structured problem solving using A3 thinking

  • Problem solving in a complex environment

  • Understanding data and variation

  • Creating high reliability solutions and processes

  • Developing a culture of improvement

  • Closing improvement projects and sustaining results

Session Format

The ACR Learning Network’s program includes three session types, each designed to support specific team members at various points in the training process. Each of these is described in more detail below.

NOTE: All session will be held via Zoom.  The Zoom link is in the Outlook invite.

Learning Sessions: Quality improvement training is provided via a reverse classroom model. Participants complete assignments prior to attending the learning sessions so they are prepared to apply the concepts in class.  Assignments include 2-4 short online tutorial videos, articles, and project work. Learning sessions are two hours long and are held every three weeks as detailed in the table below.

Role TrainingRole training will begin prior to the learning sessions, and will be tailored to specific team roles in order to orient participants to the program. For site leadership, there is a single on-line informational video that outlines program benefits, deliverables, and required resource commitments. For participants, there is a single on-line training session that outlines program timeline, format, and expectations for project success. The QI coach will have an extended 5 session training program (see table below) with the experienced QI professionals to ensure they are well versed in the tools, concepts, and methodology of the Learning Network program and therefore ready to support their project team.
